85 percent gradient in the "Mausefalle", jumps of up to 80 meters long and speeds of over 140 kilometers per hour in the finish compression: The Streif in Kitzbühel is the ultimate ski run. Inspired by the demands of challenging slopes like this, Toni Sailer Sports, manufacturer of premium skiwear, has launched a capsule collection for men. The Streif Edition comprises two lines: a technical 3-layer programme (RYKR), which can be combined to create a highly functional overall outfit, and the ultra-light Ruven ski jacket, which illustrates the innovative character of the collection in terms of both craftsmanship and technology. At the ISPO Munich 2019, Toni Sailer presents the Streif Edition in hall B1, booth 320.
"Whether the starting shot, Karussell or Hausbergkante - the styles of our Streif Edition withstand extreme conditions and are developed for skiers who expect maximum performance," explains Hans Taubenberger, founder and managing director of Toni Sailer. "Its blend of urban style and high-performance functional materials makes the Streif Edition an exclusive premium product line that pushes the boundaries. The Ruven jacket is a symbol of this. Thanks to innovative materials and the seamless bonded process, it sets new standards in terms of weight, wearing comfort, cut and functionality.
A special feature is the new Premium Light 4-Way Stretch material, which allows maximum freedom of movement with an extremely low weight. The soft fabric is elastic in all directions and delivers maximum performance with a 20,000mm water column and maximum breathability (25,000g/qm/24h). The Ruven jacket is lined with PrimaLoft® Down Blend, offering highest insulation performance and low weight. The filling material is also particularly soft and compressible - which means pure wearing comfort for demanding skiers! Thanks to the bonded chamber construction in the classic quilted look, the jacket has almost no seams.
For Hans Taubenberger, the Streif Edition is an affair of the heart and the Ruven jacket a temporary highlight in the development of the brand Toni Sailer, which he launched in 2004 and presented for the first time at ISPO Munich in 2006. "The Hahnenkamm race on the Streif is the heart of the Ski World Cup and the Brand Toni Sailer would be inconceivable without the Streif." For the Kitzbühel skiing legend Toni Sailer, who died in 2009, the five victories on the Streif were personally the most important triumphs. Therefore, the products of the Streif Edition also have to withstand the extreme conditions there.
From the very beginning, his idea was to only produce ski clothing with a high fashion demand and performance-oriented materials. "I was an enthusiastic skier myself and had many years of experience in the textile industry," he recalls 2004. "Newly created collections should transfer the look and charm of Toni Sailer's time into the present and create a perfect symbiosis of technology and fashion". The elegant, timeless outfits with figure-hugging cuts and high-performance stretch materials in combination with retro elements convinced buyers of sports shops from noble destinations such as Courchevel, St. Moritz, Lech or Aspen right from the start. The premium brand has thus become a success story which, in addition to its own subsidiary in North America, now has around 300 customers in over thirty countries worldwide.
"Every part of our collection goes through an intensive process from the idea to development and testing to production," Hans Taubenberger explains the manufacturing process. When selecting the production sites, it is decisive for him that they offer the best functional materials and can also optimally process them with many years of experience.
"Over eighty percent of our production takes place in sample rooms, in which even the smallest quantities and limited editions with a worldwide edition of only 100 pieces are carefully handcrafted," says Taubenberger. It is not unusual for a Toni Sailer jacket to take a thousand minutes to manufacture. For comparison only: the track record on the Streif are 1:51.58 minutes!
